A Meal to Change Minds

Brief: Promote Hilton’s outstanding record as an inclusive employer and position it as a the industry advocate for people with learning disabilities.

Approach: Research was commissioned to understand the barriers to employment for people with learning disabilities – just 5% are currently in work in the UK – which found that three quarters felt there is a lack of visible role models to encourage others into work.

To highlight this representation gap, Hilton opened a tearoom at the Waldorf Hilton where guests are served afternoon tea prepared and served exclusively by staff with severe learning disabilities.  

Outcome: Stacks of national coverage and a very happy executive board.
